Co-CEO and Executive Director

Martin Soltau

Martin directed the recent UK Government study into the viability of Space-Based Solar Power. He is a successful business leader in the aerospace sector, with experience of delivering £100M+ programmes. He is a regular international speaker and a member of both the IAF and IAA international committees on Space Solar Power.

Sam Adlen

Sam has been driving innovation in the space sector for 20 years. He has led or supported the development of a number of space businesses as Chief Strategy Officer at the Satellite Applications Catapult. He worked on a NASA Mars mission, at Finmeccanica and was lead technologist for Space at Innovate UK. Sam holds an MPhys and PhD from Oxford University and an MBA from Imperial College London.

Stuart Martin

Stuart Martin is CEO of the Satellite Applications Catapult. He joined the Catapult in January 2013 from Logica (now part of CGI) where he was Business Director for Space and Satellite Communications for nearly seven years, leading all the company’s activities in the Space domain. Stuart is a former vice-chair of UKSpace, the British trade association representing the Space industry, and council member of Eurospace – its European equivalent.

Non-Executive Director

Julie Currie

Julie is an experienced Non-Executive Director and Chair of Audit and Risk Committees and a Chartered Accountant, with 27 years’ of financial services experience across corporate and investment banking, capital markets, retail banking and asset management.

As well as Space Solar, Julie also currently sits on the Boards of two regulated banks as Director and Chair of Audit Committee, Tesco Bank and Scotiabank Europe, and the Board of State Street Global Advisors Ltd, a regulated investment manager.

Prior Non-Executive roles include the Department for International Trade, Social and Sustainable Capital and the Social Investment Business.

Non-Executive Director

Mark Garnier

Mark Garnier is the Conservative Member of Parliament for Wyre Forest. He has served for over 6 years on the Treasury Select Committee and the Parliamentary Commission for Banking Standards and was Minister for Investment at the Department of International Trade between 2016 and 2018. Mark is currently the Prime Minister’s Trade Envoy for Thailand, Myanmar, Brunei and Vietnam and is a member of the newly formed Energy Security and Net Zero Select Committee and chairs the All Party Group for Space. Prior to being first elected in 2010, Mark had a 28 year career in finance, including investment banking and investment management.
